Not a lot of people know that we have a ‘twin’ club based in Dublin, Ireland…
In 1965 a group of Irish men were on holiday in England intent on forming a football club on their return. They had the players, a pitch and facilities, the only thing missing for the club was a name. The group stumbled across a small village in Cambridgeshire called Fenstanton where apparently they all enjoyed the local fish and chips! On their return to Dublin they decided to name their newly formed football club – Fenstanton FC – named after the one and only Fenstanton in Cambridgeshire!
Now in their 50th year, Fenstanton FC Ireland currently play in the Dublin Amateur Football League, Sunday Premier Division. They play their home games at Furry Park, Santry, Dublin.
