Fenstanton 4-1 Soham United Reserves
Fenstanton managed to preserve their unbeaten start to the season, with a 4-1 victory over Soham United Reserves, a scoreline that flattered Fenstanton to be honest.
Kicking with the wind in the first half in horrible conditions, Fenstanton created very little, and reverted to over hit long cross field balls.
A couple of good efforts with the woodwork getting hit twice, was all about Fenstanton managed in the first 45 minutes.
To make things worse for Fenny, full back Darren Bryant was forced off with injury, which turned out to be a fractured shoulder.
Fenstanton were lucky not to go in at the break a goal down, with goalkeeper Adam Buckingham saving well with his feet after the Soham striker went clean through.
Due to the poor performance of the team, Fenstanton re-shuffled the pack, bringing on Mark Gallagher, and pushing Ben Fuller up front.
This had a remarkable effect, and in 10 second half minutes, Fenstanton found themselves 4-0 up!
Ben Fuller found himself one on one with the keeper and showed great composure to score his first of the game.
Ben Hall then tapped in his 6th of the season after good play from Salv Merola. And Fuller then quickly stabbed in his 2nd goal from close range.
Fuller then completed his Hatrick, by smashing in from a tight angle, to put the game out of Soham’s reach.
Soham did eventually score, via a header from a corner, but didn’t really threaten after that.
Fenny turn their attention to a huge game next week, against local rivals Houghton & Wyton.
